Advantage of Utilizing Up-to-Date Content On Websites For Accountants

Are you keeping your site dynamic and exciting? Pause a moment and impartially reassess your site. Do you offer fresh, exciting content on your website regularly? You may not grasp this, but you could be well on the way to alienating current clients when you could be luring them in and boosting your website's search engine placement at the same time.

Many accountants understand retail marketing better than they understand service or internet marketing, so let's look at a retail store as an example. Would you continue to go to that store if you knew there would never be anything new there? Not a chance. Websites for accountants are the same. if you don't give your clients new content, they will stop visiting your site.

Embracing Change

Change can be a difficult thing to wrap your mind around. There is always an element of risk involved; why mess with something that has been so far successful? As the old adage goes, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.

But this mentality can lead to neglect, and a site that isn't regularly updated can be as easily forgotten as a dust-covered antique sitting in a cupboard. Of course while the dust on your site is strictly metaphorical, you can see it's effect everywhere; on your number of site visitors, on your search engine placement, and most importantly in the money you make.

Staying Relevant

So why does a site which hasn't been updated for a while suddenly drop off the front page of Google? You must remember that the prime function of search engines is to point the searchers to the best, most relevant sites for the terms they entered. Websites for accountants that are constantly updating and offering up new content are, by nature, considered more relevant than a site that hasn't been updated in years.

Keep your site dynamic and up to date. Here are some tricks that will help you without gobbling up too much of your valuable time. Changing your website doesn't mean you have to completely overhaul it; small changes can do the job just fine and there are a multitude of ways to do it easily.

The Basics

If you're like me and you enjoy writing you should try keeping a blog. This is a great way to keep your site content dynamic and lure visitors to the site. Even if you just do small entries commenting on recent events, it gives your visitors a reason to return to your site again later. Over time you'll even draw in readers and feedback. Reader comments are also a great potential source of dynamic content.

Post your monthly newsletter online. There are a lot of advantages to this (email is a lot cheaper than post) not the least of which is that it's a great way to keep the site fresh and exciting. Your newsletter is a great way to keep your clients up to date on changes to tax laws and the financial climate, but keep it personal. Include information about your firm and community. There are a number of services that provide online newsletters and these have the advantage of being "fire-and-forget" solutions. You don't need to lift a finger and your website content is constantly changing!

Another great method is to have pages on the site where the content varies over time. Calendars and tax due dates are obvious solutions. Again... you may find third party solutions are the easiest way to include this kind of content.

You will be shocked at just how meaningfully you can increase your site effectiveness just by being kept contemporary with repeated updates. Don't have your site just sit there getting old, keep it sassy and show it off!
